LG released quite a few series of Android smartphones in the last couple of years in its attempt to find the winning formula. Some of you might recall that the South Korean company announced the K series last month at CES 2016, which comprises several mid-range phones with advanced camera features.

Today, the company is back with yet another family of smartphones called X series. The X cam and X screen smartphones will be showcased at Mobile World Congress 2016 trade fair later this month.

According to LG, they are supposed to offer premium features without the premium price. These are but the first models in the X series, as the company plans to add even more smartphones to this family.

As their name suggest, each of these smartphones will focus on a certain aspect. For example, the X cam will come with dual cameras on the rear, which are supposed to offer the most advanced camera experience in a mass-tier smartphone.

On the other hand, the X screen features an Always-on second screen, which has only been available on the LG V10 until now. It's also worth mentioning that both smartphones ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.

Standard mid-range specs, but some unique features

But let's take a look at what these smartphones have to offer regarding specs. The LG X cam sports a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

The phone is powered by a 1.14GHz octa-core processor, paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded via microSD card slot.

Also, the X cam boasts a 13- and a 5-megapixel camera on the back, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

LG has also confirmed that the X cam will drain energy from a 2,520 mAh battery, and it will offer LTE support. The X cam will be available in Titan Silver, White, Gold, and Pink Gold.

Next in line, LG X screen sports a 4.93 capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, as well as a secondary 1.76-inch LCD with 520 x 80 pixels resolution.

The smartphone comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory expandable via microSD card slot.

The X screen will be powered by a 2,300 mAh battery and packs a 13-megapixel camera in the back, along with a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front. It includes LTE support as well.

Design-wise, LG praises the X cam's 3D Bending Glass, elegant curved finish on the front with a profile of only 5.2mm.

The X screen offers a stylish, sleek look with its crystal-clear glass fiber exterior and clean lines. Not to mention that users will be able to check time, date, battery status and other notifications on the second screen without having to turn on the phone.
