14 DAY TRIAL // Google has confirmed it will release Android Wear 2.0 in early February, but it did not mention any date for the announcement. Although previous reports suggested the new OS would be unveiled on February 9, it looks like Google has decided to change the Android Wear 2.0 release date.
As mentioned in our previous report, Google is now said to launch Android Wear 2.0 on February 8, one day earlier than expected. Besides the new platform, the Mountain View company is likely to introduce two new smartwatches as well, the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.
We've already reported about both Google's smartwatches built by LG, but this is the first time that we have information that confirms some of their specs.
Before going into details, it's worth mentioning that LG Watch Sport will cost $350, while LG Watch Style's price won't surpass the $250 mark. These are leaked prices that haven't been confirmed by Google yet, but considering they come from a reliable source, we expect them to be accurate.
Moving on to the actual specs, the LG Watch Sport, the most expensive of the two, has been recently spotted on Geekbench, a benchmark database that stores performance results.
According to the listing at Geekbench, the LG Watch Sport will be powered by an unnamed 1.09GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 768MB RAM. The listing also confirms the “Swordfish” code name of the smartwatch.
Although the wearable device is listed with Android 7.1.1 Nougat on board, LG Watch Sport will actually ship with Android Wear 2.0 operating system right out of the box.
Based on previous reports, we also know the smartwatch will pack 4GB of storage and a decent 430 mAh battery, which should allow for one day of average usage. Also, the LG Watch Sport will feature IP68 certification, so it's supposed to be dust and water resistant.
