Google revealed last year that the release of Android Wear 2.0 would be followed almost immediately by the announcement of its first smartwatches, which will be built by another company.

Although the search giant has yet to confirm when exactly Android Wear 2.0 will be released, rumor has it that it might be launched on February 9. Along with the new OS for smartwatches, Google will also release its first two smartwatches, the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style.

VentureBeat reports that Google has teamed up with LG for the release of its first Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches, which will be released in the United States on February 9.

The report also states that their availability will be expanded to other countries in late February and March, but they will also be showcased at Mobile World Congress. There's no word on prices yet, but we do know a couple of things about what's under that beautiful display.

The LG Watch Sport is about 14.2mm in size and comes with swappable straps, while the Watch Style is slightly smaller at 10.8mm. The former will be available in titanium and dark blue, whereas the latter will sell in three color versions: titanium, silver, and rose gold.

LG Watch Sport packs a plastic OLED display of 1.38 inches in size and 480 x 480 pixel resolution. The Watch Style has a smaller 1.2-inch OLED display with 360 x 360 pixel resolution.

Google Assistant integration and iOS compatibility included

Both models feature multiple connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but the Watch Sport offers cellular connectivity (3G and LTE support), GPS and NFC (Near Field Communication).

Hardware-wise, the Watch Sport is the more powerful of the two, as it packs 768MB RAM, 4GB storage, and a 430mAh battery. On the other hand, the Watch Style comes with only 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, and a smaller 240mAh battery.

However, both smartwatches feature deep Google Assistant integration, as well as IP68 and IP67 certifications for water and dust resistance.

On top of that, the LG Watch Sport includes a heart rate sensor, Android Pay support, and untethered telephony support with the phone number of the user's main smartphone. Both smartwatches are compatible with iOS and feature a crown button for easier operation.
