Last month, we reported that LG was working on an upcoming smartphone, the successor to LG V10. The name of the handset hasn't been confirmed until today, when the company has announced that the V20 will debut in September and that it will be the first non-Nexus device to run Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.

Indeed, LG's V20 will be the first Android 7.0 Nougat OEM phone, and the company has informed us that it will come in September. This signals the fact that Google isn't far from publicly releasing the next Android OS version.

Actually, the latest rumors on the matter say that the Mountain View-based giant might release Android 7.0 Nougat next month. Upcoming Nexus smartphones, Marlin and Sailfish, will most likely be unveiled soon after that.

It makes sense for LG to release the first non-Nexus smartphone with Android 7.0 Nougat, considering that the company also manufactured some Nexus smartphones, including the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 5X.

LG might make the V line the new flagship series

LG has stated in a press release that the "V20 will be a new standard for premium phones (and will feature) more enhanced multimedia capabilities." Word is that the V20 could come with a large 1440 x 2560 resolution display and have a secondary screen, just like on the LG V20. Not much is known about the V20, except the fact that it passed through the FCC recently, which means that the launch is quite imminent.

The LG V10 came with a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 resolution display and a very useful secondary screen ensuring a 160 x 1040p resolution. It ran Snapdragon 808, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Rear camera capacity reached 16MP, with a 3,000 mAh battery being provided too.

LG hinted that the V series might become the company's new flagship line, which would make sense, considering that even the company admitted that the LG G5 didn't do so well in terms of sales, and the smartphone failed to capture the attention of the market.
