LG has another mid-range device out and about

A few months ago, LG unveiled a mid-range phablet coming with stylus support dubbed the LG G Stylo. Well, if for some reason that model didn’t appeal to you, this week LG is coming out with another device from the mid-range category that might suit your tastes better.

The Korean company has just announced a new Android smartphone coming out with a pretty kooky name, the Band Play, something that makes us think more of a wearable of sorts. LG will be offering the phone on the South Korean market, but at some point we might end up seeing it sell internationally as well.

The Band Play is a little different from other mid-range offerings available on the market these days, in the sense that it features a 1-watt speaker which should be able to provide a clear and rich sound experience.

LG has a little surprise for those purchasing the Band Play

On top of that, customers ordering the new phone will have the pleasure of discovering a pair of LG QuadBeat 3 earphones offered as part of the product bundle. For those who don’t remember, the QuadBeat 3 earphones were announced not so long ago as one of the LG G4’s official accessories.

Now let’s see what we can expect from this new device in terms of specifications. The Band Play takes advantage of a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixel resolution and draws power from a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor (just like the LG G Stylo we have been telling you about above) in combination with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal memory.

On the imaging front, the Band Play features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP frontal selfie shooter. It runs the latest in terms of software, meaning Android 5.1 Lollipop, and we can be fairly sure the mid-ranger will receive the Android M update when the time comes.

We should also mention that the handset bundles a new focus mode that lets users concentrate on work by cutting off data and Wi-Fi, as well as automatically rejecting phone calls.

Last but not least, the phone is kept alive by a decent 2,300 mAh battery. Expect the LG Band Play to go on sale later this month in South Korea for approximately $356 / €317.
