LG promises to unveil a new variant of last year's LG V30 smartphone that will feature a suite of AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies for the camera, voice, and other functions of the device.

The company announced that it would unveil the 2018 version of the LG V30 smartphone, its most advanced flagship to date, saying that it'll come pre-installed with new AI technology for camera and voice recognition, on which LG's army of engineers spent more than a year to develop.

"This research focused primarily on making AI-based solutions with the objective to deliver a unique and more intuitive user experience, focusing on the camera and voice recognition," says LG. "The result is a suite of AI technologies that is aligned closely with the needs and usage behavior of today’s users."

Meet Vision AI and Voice AI

The new suite of AI technologies that LG plans to unveil during Mobile World Congress 2018 consists of Vision AI, providing the next-generation image recognition functionality, and Voice AI, a collection of voice commands that will be exclusive to LG's smartphones, starting with the 2018 variant of the LG V30.

The Vision AI technology promises to make LG V30's camera even smarter and easier to use by automatically analyzing objects you want to photograph and recommending the best shooting mode. In addition, it offers shopping advice by using smart image recognition, and a new low-light shooting mode.

On the other hand, the Voice AI technology lets you run Android apps on the LG V30 smartphone, as well as to change various settings, only through voice commands, which are compatible with Google Assistant. Nine new commands have been added in the 2018 variant of LG V30 besides that 23 ones that were already available in last year's model.

LG said that it plans to further enhance the AI capability of its smartphones with new features similar to Voice AI and Vision AI, as well as to expand them to other models of its Android-powered smartphones with software updates. LG’s booth at MWC 2018 will be in Hall 3 of Fira Gran Via from February 26 until March 1.
