Many smartphone makers will announce new devices during the Mobile World Congress, the year’s biggest tech event. However, LG will grant itself a head start and announce its latest flagship one day before the MWC starts.

LG has started sending invites for February 26, one day before the MWC officially opens its gates in Barcelona. The company has sent invites to the media and other participants in anticipation of the event during which it will announce its latest G6 flagship.

The invite reads “See More, Play More,” which hints towards a powerful and larger display, as well as higher processing power and battery life inside the new phone. To back this up, LG did release a teaser for the G6 last week, saying that the new phone will have a big screen and smaller body. Fireworks in a blue night sky symbolize an announcement of great importance. The LG event is scheduled for February 26, at 12.00PM in Barcelona. “Save the date,” the invite further says.

Waterproof capabilities and 3.5mm audio jack

Indeed, LG will take a different approach with the new G6, ditching the modular design seen on the G5, which didn’t quite cut it for the market. Moreover, the company expects sales of the new G6 to compensate for losses recorded with its predecessor, hinting towards the fact that it learned its lesson and focused more on the new model’s functionality.

So far, we know that the G6 will have a design which incorporates metal and glass panels and that the phone will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. Thus, LG won’t be taking any chances when it comes to the highly popular audio jack that some developers have ditched in their latest flagships, including Apple’s latest iPhone and the Moto Z series.

The G6 will come with waterproof capabilities, a 5.7-inch display with Quad HD resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, as LG recently unveiled such a display. The screen will also have 564 pixels per inch ratio and an advanced cooling system.
