14 DAY TRIAL // LG announced on Wednesday that it would soon release the latest Android 8.1 Oreo software update for its LG V30 and LG G6 smartphones now that Google has certified them for its recently announced Android Enterprise Recommended program.
Google's Android Enterprise Recommended program aims to help businesses invest in the right Android devices and services by listing only top partners that were certified as enterprise-ready, including the LG V30 and LG G6 premium smartphones, but only those available in the United States.
To be listed by Google in its new Android Enterprise Recommended program, LG agreed to immediately update its two devices, the LG V30 and LG G6, to Android 8.1 Oreo, the latest software update released by the search giant with various enhancements and general bug fixes.
"Earning the Android Enterprise Recommended certification underscores LG's commitment to continual improvements in enterprise security and is paramount to the brand's overall promise to deliver capable and secure devices for any workforce, large or small," said Chris Yie, head of mobile operations, LG Electronics USA.
LG promises frequent security updates for LG V30 and LG G6
Another requirement for Google's Android Enterprise Recommended program is for LG to release frequent security updates for its LG V30 and LG G6 smartphones, which support the LG GATE (Guarded Access to Enterprise) platform for delivering manageability and security of enterprise data on mobile phones.
LG V30 and LG G6 provide the enterprise world with deployment methods like zero-touch enrollment, another requirement for Google's Android Enterprise Recommended program, allowing IT managers to easily deploy Android devices with pre-installed security updates and at scale on the Android 8 Oreo ecosystem.
LG also noted the fact that its latest LG V30 flagship device is the perfect companion for those who often travel for business as it lets them securely access corporate VPNs on the go. At the moment of writing, LG did not set a release date for the Android 8.1 Oreo update on the LG V30 and LG G6 smartphones, but it's expected soon.
