LG might be working on a phablet with a stylus pen

Back in March 2015, word surfaced that LG might be working on a spinoff of its G4 flagship. The device was supposedly called the G4 Note, and naturally, it was supposed to come equipped with a stylus pen as part of the bundle.

Since then, months have passed and LG unveiled the G4, but there was no G4 Note in sight. So the question remains: is LG still working on the phablet? Apparently, the company hasn’t scrapped the device altogether.

The Korean device maker has trademarked the “G Note” at the USPTO and even added a nice logo to go along with the filing. While the trademark doesn’t reveal any information related to the phablet itself, it’s pretty obvious that the company continues to entertain the idea of releasing a competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Note5.

Samsung has managed to make the Galaxy Note series popular mainly because of the S Pen which uses digitizers and pressure sensitivity to simulate how a real pen performs. Hopefully, LG will offer something along these lines or even better.

LG has another phone coming out in 2015

LG has already talked about launching a “not so premium” smartphone before this year expires, but we had to guess the company was actually referring to the G4 Pro. But since no official statements were made, we might as well speculate that the device might turn out to be the LG G4 Note.

Rumored specs of the upcoming phablet include a 5.8-inch display with QHD resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels), a Snapdragon 810 under the hood (not again) and a dual camera setup.

Actually, according to a recent report, LG’s upcoming device is said to differentiate itself by virtue of its camera’s capabilities. Nothing was mentioned of a stylus or anything similar.

If LG managed to bring a phablet with an advanced stylus into the wild that would also incorporate a microSD card slot and a removable battery, we’re pretty sure lots of customers would turn their attention away from the Samsung Galaxy Note5 and start considering the LG device.

LG hasn’t had a whole lot of success with its G4 flagship, but maybe a Note phablet might help it make a comeback.
