LG is omnipresent on the US market, so it doesn't come as a surprise that the South Korean company launched another Android smartphone at one of the major carriers in the country.

Verizon Wireless has just announced that it will offer its customers the LG Optimus Zone 3, an affordable smartphone that has been added to the carrier's prepaid lineup.

Customers will be able to grab the Optimus Zone 3 for free on three tiers services: $60 a month, $45 a month and $30 a month. Each of these plans comes with unlimited talk and text, but a limited amount of data.

“This phone is the perfect entry point if you want to upgrade to a more full-featured device, but don’t want to break the bank.

“It’s also ideal for students who want to stay connected with friends and family when they aren’t near their laptop or tablet. If you already own an LG Optimus Zone 2, consider upgrading — the Zone 3 packs a ton of punch in a small package,” reads Verizon's announcement.

Quad-core CPU, Android Lollipop OS

Specs-wise, LG Optimus Zone 3 is far from being impressive, but it might be a good deal for those looking for their first smartphone or something cheap that could gift to their family members.

The Optimus Zone 3 is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, most likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, the smartphone packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Also, Verizon has confirmed the Optimus Zone 3 comes with a Selfie Flash and Gesture Shot feature for the rear-facing camera. The smartphone is now available through the Verizon Prepaid Pricing site.
