LG has just announced the G6+, an upgraded version of the original G6 that comes with more storage, new colors, and wireless charging.

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that LG hasn’t upgraded RAM, so just like the G6, the G6+ comes with 4GB. Then, it’s the storage, which the parent company has increased from 64GB to 128GB, so it’s offering twice more storage on the new version.

Another neat feature coming on the G6+ is Qi wireless charging, which is exclusive to this model, but only in certain countries, with no specifics provided in this regard.

And last but not least, the LG G6+ comes with premium headphones from B&O, which use the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC system to improve sound quality. The earphones are included in the box by default.

LG hasn’t yet announced pricing and availability of the new G6+, but more information will come at a later time, the company said. Several new colors will also be available, including Optical Astro Black, Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold, with the hue to change depending on the light.

LG G6 update

LG has also announced a set of improvements for the standard G6 model, including an update to Face Print that makes it possible to unlock the device with the facial recognition system without actually pressing any button.

“Unlocking occurs as soon as the registered face is recognized, usually in less than one second on average. The camera is only activated when the phone is raised to the face so there is no additional battery drain when using Face Print,” LG explains.

Then, there’s a new feature called Low Power Consumption and which uses the Qualcomm chip and all available sensors to improve user experience with third-party apps and cut battery consumption. LG hasn’t explained how exactly this feature is going to work, but again more details are likely to be offered when the update goes live.

And last but not least, there’s a third major new improvement coming to the LG G6, with alerts to be displayed to users when a finger is detected in the frame of a picture before the shutter is activated.
