The LG G6 has finally started shipping to its owners and LG continues to promote its latest premium smartphone. In a new video, LG put the G6 through the Goldberg test, challenging all of its features and capabilities.

The G6 first slides down from a panel and starts pushing down transparent glass bricks that launch another G6 unit into a basket. The device is then submerged under water to test its IP68 certification and see if any water managed to break through and reach inside components.

Then small particles are released on top of another G6 unit, in order to test the device’s IP68 dust-resistance. Once the particles are blown off, the smartphone is then dropped from a height of 1 meter to reveal its reliable build and test out scenarios in which users might drop their phones. In addition to the drop, the G6 is seen tumbling inside an acrylic cross-shaped container, before being subjected to extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 60 degrees Celsius.

The G6 passed the reliability test

The G6’s Quick Charging 3.0 capabilities are also put to the test, revealing that the phone can charge half of its battery capacity in just 35 minutes. The built-in heat pipe makes sure that the G6 doesn’t overheat while charging and keeps its 35.05 degrees Celsius temperature.

The video also shows the G6 passing the Goldberg test with its 5.7-inch Full Vision display intact. It’s also worth mentioning that the display supports Dolby Vision and HDR10, while the video goes on to highlight the phone’s minimalistic design, lack of camera bump on the back, and dual wide-angle camera.

The G6 has already started shipping in the US, while the flagship is expected to gradually reach global markets in the following weeks, with a price tag of $600-$700 depending on the country. Thus the G6 should be available in many stores later this month, when the Galaxy S8 releases.
