LG released several teasers to build up the hype around its upcoming flagship and some of the smartphone’s specs are already known. A new report by SemiAccurate confirms the fact that the G6 won’t come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 SoC.

The report reveals a confidential slide from LG taken during CES 2017, held last month. The slide shows some specs of the upcoming G6, including the fact that it will feature a 5.7-inch Full Vision display, a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear of the phone, and Quad DAC in certain regions.

Moreover, it confirms rumors saying that the smartphone will have water and dust resistance, probably IP67 or IP68 certification. The slide also confirms that the smartphone will incorporate Qualcomm’s MSM8996AC chipset or Snapdragon 821 SoC.

The G6 will be announced on February 26

Last year’s flagship processor was featured in flagships and high-end smartphones, and it offers enhanced performance power and reduced battery consumption compared to Snapdragon 820. The slide confirms previous reports that pointed to the fact that LG wouldn’t incorporate the latest SD835 in its upcoming flagship.

Apparently, Samsung will have dibs on the initial production of SD835 for its Galaxy S8 smartphone, thus blocking access for competitors like LG. LG will announce the G6 later this month, while the phone could go on sale in March. If LG had waited for the SD835 to be made available to other smartphone makers, the G6 would have launched in May or early June. This meant that the phone would have to directly compete against the Galaxy S8 and it might not have been in LG’s advantage.

The G6 will hit stores in South Korea at least six weeks earlier than the Galaxy S8, and LG is betting that this would give a boost to initial sales. Clearly, the decision to pass on SD835 for the G6 was mainly connected to sales projections, while it will make the phone accessible to many, considering that it will most likely have a lower price than the Galaxy S8.
