14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, LG has just revealed its flagship smartphone for the first half of the year, the G6. The handset is much better looking than the predecessor, and even though it comes with a larger display, it's not much bigger than the LG G5.
Another major improvement over the previous model is the 5.7-inch Full Vision display, which is supposed to support two wider color standards: Dolby Vision and HDR 10. The large screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 coating.
On top of that, LG G6 ships with the Android 7.1 Nougat operating system right out of the box, as well as Google Assistant. It also runs a newer LG UI (user interface), especially designed to take advantage of the new 18:9 aspect ratio of the display.
Aside from the 5.7-inch display that supports Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440 pixel) resolution, LG confirmed the smartphone is water and dust resistant (IP68-certified). The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the back side, but in a convenient location.
LG G6 will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and either 32 or 64GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card).
The South Korean company teased earlier this week the G6's camera capabilities. Today, LG has confirmed its flagship comes with a dual-camera setup, comprised of two 13-megapixel shooters.
The first one features f/1.8, optical image stabilization (OIS) and 3-axis, whereas the second camera has f.2/4 aperture. Laser autofocus, face detection, HDR, and 4K video recording are on board as well. In the front, there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera with f.2/2 aperture and full HD (1080p) video recording.
LG G6 is powered by a 3,300 mAh non-removable battery and features Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Wireless charging is included as well, but just in the United States.
According to LG, the G6 will be available for pre-order on March 2. Also, customers will be able to purchase the phone starting March 10.
