Samsung is not the only major smartphone vendor to launch its flagship handset on February 21, as LG scheduled a press conference for the same date.

During the launch event set for February 21, LG is expected to unveil the G5, the smartphone with which the South Korean company hopes to be able to compete with Samsung's Galaxy S7.

The good news for LG and Android fans alike is that Galaxy S7 and G5 are completely different products so they will target different types of consumers.

LG looks like it's been trying to innovate and come with something new and original while Samsung does make only under-the-hood changes to its upcoming flagship smartphone.

Rumor has it that LG G5 will feature a semi-modular design enabling users to switch various plug-in modules that offer extra features that otherwise would not be available.

Today, the first picture offering us a clear view of the LG G5 has just emerged online courtesy to @evleaks. As many of you probably know by now, the G5 will feature a fingerprint scanner on the back side, below the main camera.

Dual-camera setup, removable bottom side

Speaking of which, the image also confirms LG G5 comes with dual-camera setup. There's also a dual-tone LED flash between the two rear-facing cameras.

We can also see that the bottom side of the G5 is removable, so users will be able to pull out the battery and add another plug-in module or another battery perhaps.

Although the phone's display is turned off, we already know the G5 will include an Always-on display since the information had been confirmed by LG several days ago.

At least three modules will be officially unveiled this weekend at the LG G5 launch event: a camera grip, a DAC (digital audio chip) and a VR (virtual reality) camera.

No word about price and availability of LG G5, but we don't expect it to be much cheaper than Samsung's Galaxy S7 (€700).
