LG had a very good first half of the year as the company's high-end smartphones G3 and G4 sold very well in the United States, but also in other major markets.

The South Korean company also has some mid-range Android smartphones available in the United States, the LG G Stylo and LG Leon are now on sale at T-Mobile.

Last week we reported LG plans to launch yet another mid-range Android smartphone, which hasn't been officially unveiled.

The LG G4 S is a mid- to high-end smartphone, which is expected to ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

News about the upcoming handset emerged last week, but now we have more details on the phone's specs courtesy to Dutch website Techtastic, which spotted the LG G4 S at GFXBench.

Although we're not convinced that the specs reported by the benchmark are entirely correct since the phone's tested is just a prototype, here are the most important pieces of hardware that the LG G4 S is packed with.

Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 CPU

First of all, the smartphone sports a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

On the inside, the G4 S is equipped with a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

The benchmark reports the smartphone as having 3.5GB storage, but we suspect it will come with at least 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

Last but not least, the phone should pack a 8-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, along with a 5-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

Since the smartphone is still being tested, we expect LG to make the G4 S official in the next weeks, but it will probably take slightly longer to go on sale.
