Android 6.0 references pop up on the LG Korea website

Earlier this week, Google officially announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a promise to start rolling out the update for supported Nexus devices (Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus Player) on October 5.

Subsequently, we revealed a few days ago that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Motorola Moto X (2014) had just received certifications from the Wi-Fi Alliance, which means that it shouldn’t be long before the handset gets bumped up to the new build.

HTC also confirmed plans to update some of its current flagship models to Google’s latest build, and today we have news of another manufacturer that might push out the same update for its own products.

According to a report coming out of G for Games, it appears that Korean manufacturer LG, who has just recently unveiled the LG V10 smartphone, is also gearing up to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the G3 and G4 smartphones.

LG might push out Android 6.0 soon

The LG Korea support page now contains an Android 6.0 category for the two models, alongside the previous OS versions. So we are only left to speculate that the new update is coming soon, but LG hasn’t officially said anything yet, therefore, you should be taking everything with a grain of salt.

Checking the category will redirect users to an unrelated page, so obviously, LG isn’t ready to roll out the update yet. But the presence of the tag is enough to indicate that LG is at least engaged in working to produce the update.

For the time being, it appears that the LG G4 and LG G3 are the only phones with good prospects of getting the Android 6.0 update. So other high-end phones from the company, like the LG G Flex 2 with Snapdragon 810, might have to wait a while. Naturally, as time passes, LG will update more phones and tablets to Android 6.0.

With Lollipop, the company has succeeded in updating even its mid-range line of phones and tables, so we should be hopeful.

The recently unveiled LG V10 was also announced with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, so we have to assume the phone is bound to get Marshmallow too.
