LG will probably be among the first to offer the update

Google has just officially announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow and we already told you that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha and more would be getting the update in early 2016.

Well, other device makers have also started work on the update. Like LG, for instance, who is prepping the update for several of its devices, including tablets and laptops. Slash Gear received information according to which the LG G4 will be seeing the update in a matter of months, if not weeks.

We’re also told that the LG Pad II 10.1 tablet, that will probably launch at IFA 2015, will ship out with Android 4.4 KitKat on board but will make the jump (over Lollipop) directly to Android 6.0 before 2015 comes to an end.

At this point, it seems that no other LG tablet is poised to get Android 6.0, even if the LG G Pad X 8.2 launched back in May and the LG G Pad II 8.0 just made it out not so long ago. Still, this might change in the near future.

LG G3 Marshmallow status uncertain at this point

As for the upcoming LG phablet we just talked about (probably the LG G4 Pro), it will launch with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, maybe! No guarantees at this point.

The report says that, while the update is sure for the G4, things are not all that clear for the G3, even if it doesn’t really make sense if you think about it. After all, the device is still within the boundaries of the 2-year lifespan characteristic of modern smartphones.

Moving along, there’s bad news for G2 owners, as it seems that the company doesn’t plan to release Android 6.0 for this aging phone. Sorry, folks

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will also be delivered to the LG G Flex 2, which was launched back at CES 2015 in Las Vegas, but things are uncertain about the original G Flex (for the time being).

Surely, this is a preliminary list of LG devices that will get the new OS build and things are probably bound to change in the near future. We’ll keep you updated if that happens.
