As expected, LG has taken the wraps off another mid-range Android smartphone, the G4 Beat.

Previously leaked as LG G4 S, the new smartphone will go on sale this month in key markets in Europe and Latin America, including France, Germany and Brazil, before rolling out globally in countries such as Canada, India, Russia, Singapore, South Africa and Turkey, among others.

LG promised to offer more details on price and availability at the time of launch, so we expect to learn more about these things in the next couple of weeks.

The G4 Beat's specs sheet is no surprise for anyone who's been following the previous leaks. The smartphone ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and should be available in three different color options: Metallic Silver, Ceramic White and Shiny Gold.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Two models with different rear cameras

According to LG, there will be two G4 Beat models available on the market. One version that will go on sale in most regions will pack an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Color Spectrum Sensor, Laser Autofocus, LED flash and full HD video recording.

Another model that will only be available in Latin America markets will come with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with similar specs. However, both version will feature 5-megapixel cameras on the front.

It's also worth mentioning that LG G4 Beat sports a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and it's powered by a 2,300 mAh battery.

Other highlights of the phone include 4G LTE support along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, microUSB 2.0, GPS with AGPS and NFC (Near Field Communications).

“Too often, mid-tier phones sacrifice overall usability in order to include that one killer feature. Our goal with the LG G4 Beat was to create a phone that was not only well- balanced in terms of display, camera, performance and design but delivered terrific value and satisfaction,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
