LG announced several weeks ago that the first smartphone to receive the highly anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow would be its current flagship, the G4.

However, LG G4 only got the Marshmallow upgrade in Poland since the South Korean company wants to test it thoroughly before launching it worldwide.

Today, an LG Poland exec has confirmed that the second smartphone to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow is the company's last year flagship, LG G3, GSMArena reports.

According to the cited report, LG is still working on the Marshmallow build for the G3 although the LG executive that confirmed the update said that the build was ready to be pushed to devices.

The bad news is that the update will only be available to LG G3 devices in Poland. Just like the G4, users in Poland who own the LG G3 will be given access to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for testing purposes.

A global rollout may happen next year

If everything goes well, Android 6.0 Marshmallow could arrive in other countries for LG G3 and G4 beginning next year.

Speaking of ETA, LG confirmed that Android 6.0 Marshmallow would be pushed to G3 devices in Poland between December 16 and 18.

Aside from the usual new features and improvements included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, LG will add some of its own tweaks that fans are already familiar with from previous versions of the OS.

Up until now, LG confirmed Android 6.0 Marshmallow for just two handsets: G3 and G4. Still, we expect the South Korean company to offer the upgrade to additional devices beginning next year.

The only question is which devices will be getting Marshmallow and which will remain on Android Lollipop. We'll be keeping a close eye on any news related to LG Android 6.0 Marshmallow update roadmap, so stay tuned for more details on the matter.
