In an unexpected turn of events, LG has decided that the LG G Stylo absolutely needs to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The LG G Stylo has been released at T-Mobile last month and made it to Sprint under the same moniker about two weeks ago.

The smartphone is known internationally as LG G4 Stylus and ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

However, T-Mobile customers will be able to upgrade their LG G Stylo devices to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop beginning June 29. According to T-Mobile, the update is pushed OTA (over the air) and it's only available for download over Wi-Fi network.

The Magenta carrier also confirmed that starting July 9, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop would also be available for download via cellular data.

The update brings some battery improvements

The announcement also comes with a small changelog attached to it, in which T-Mobile mentions the update should improve battery life (for Wi-Fi calling) and display.

Other then that, the carrier does not provide any other information on what other changes could be included in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for LG G Stylo.

In other news, LG recently confirmed that G Flex won't be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop and will remain stuck on Android 4.4 KitKat.

Also, the LG Vu 3 has been treated in the same way, so owners shouldn't expect Android 5.0 Lollipop to arrive on their smartphones.

Last but not least, it looks like LG is tempted to skip Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for its flagship smartphone, the G4, as well.

The information has been recently confirmed by UK-based carrier O2 and LG Hellas, which also mentioned that the smartphone might receive an Android M upgrade instead.

After so many bad news for LG smartphone users, it's nice to finally have some good news concerning the company's Android Lollipop update roadmap for 2015.
