Last year ahead of the IFA 2014 tradeshow in Berlin, LG took the opportunity to unveil two new smartphones, the LG G Bello and LG G Fino, which were launched with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.

And now, the Korean tech giant has just introduced the successor of the LG G Bello, called the Bello II. The smartphone arrives with a 5-inch FWGA display with low 854 x 480 pixel resolution, and its powerhouse is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor working hand in hand with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB via microSD).

In the photo department, we find an 8MP main camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing shooter for selfies. The LG L Bello II bundles a functionality called Gesture Shot that allows users to snap self-portraits without pressing any buttons, just by opening and closing a hand in front of the camera. There’s also a Selfie Flash which is capable of turning the phone’s display into a soft flash.

The handset is also equipped with 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.

The LG L Bello II is kept alive by a 2,540 mAh battery, and considering the low resolution on the phone, it should provide sufficient life power.

The LG L Bello II is not so different from the original L Bello

Even if the LG L Bello II doesn’t offer amazing specs, it should be taken into account that it ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, which is the latest OS version available, so owners of the phone will be off the hook while updates are concerned. For now, at least.

Compared to last year’s version, LG hasn’t performed any monumental updates. The original LG L Bello arrived with the same 5-inch IPS display with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and 1.3GHz quad-core processor under the hood.

The selfie shooter on the 2014 phone had only 1MP capacity, but this year LG pumped things up to 5MP. Apart from that, all specs were the same as on this year’s model, including the 2,540 mAh battery.

The LG Bello II will be sold in White, Titan and Gold colors and will arrive in Latin America and India this month, while Europe will get it in Q3 2015. No word on pricing just yet.
