Samsung has announced today its newest member of the LEVEL headset lineup, the LEVEL U.

The new LEVEL U model is smaller and more ergonomic, having a flexible neck band and soft ear grips, it's equipped with built-in controls that allow wearers to easily adjust volume, pause, play or skip a track without having to reach for their paired device.

Also LEVEL U provides up to 10 hours of usage time so users will get to listen to their favorite songs for much longer than the previous LEVEL headsets.

The new headsets also come with the latest in mobile audio technology, acting as both speakers and microphone for your smartphone. Having two built-in microphones and 12mm dynamic drivers, the LEVEL U will deliver accurate and clear sound reproduction, with deep bass and balanced overall sound.

Having both a Bluetooth 4.1 connection and the Apt-X Codec, Samsung hopes that the lack of wires will bring equal high-quality sound at their disposal.

Being also a perfect peripheral for your phone, the headset had noise and echo-reducing technology and even vibration notifications to alert wearers of incoming calls, text messages and calendar events.

10 hours autonomy versus 30

However, when we take a general look at other offers, we see that the new LEVEL U has to fight quality-wise headsets like JayBird's BlueBuds X or the BTS+ from 66 Audio are rated as being the best sports headphones that offer 30 hours (!) of continuous playback and 500 hours standby and pairing with any device availability. It comes only with Bluetooth 4.0 indeed, but having this much autonomy simply beats Samsung on practicality.

Samsung does, however, offer extra features like vibration and better phone synergy and the Apt-X Codec that will indeed offer both a high quality of sound and a wider spectrum of available music formats to be played, the only major disadvantage being the low autonomy time and possible ergonomics issues. The latter will be decided by the users themselves.

You can find the new headsets on Samsung's official website being sold for $69.99 (63).
