LeTV might be taking the smartphone world by storm

Chinese media streaming giant LeTV was the first to announce a smartphone taking advantage of the new USB Type-C port. And now it seems like the company is headed towards another first.

Back at CES 2015, when ASUS announced the Zenfone 2, everyone was amazed by the fact that the phone packed 4GB of RAM on board. But what’s the next best thing when it comes to high-end phones?

According to information coming out of Giz China, we can expect next-gen premium phones to bundle a whopping 6GB of RAM, and LeTV is going to be among the first to put out such device.

The phone in question will apparently be called LeTV Le Max 2 and will come equipped with 4 x 1.5GB Samsung-made RAM modules that make a total of 6GB of RAM.

Is 6GB of RAM going to become a mainstream feature?

You can already guess that the upcoming LeTV phone is going to be a beast, and the source goes on to confirm that. The phone should feature a new Snapdragon 820 processor and a 5.7-inch 2K display. Judging by all these hyperbolic specs, we wonder whether LeTV might choose to release the final product with a 4K display instead.

After all, the first 4K smartphone, the Sony Xperia Z5, already made a debut into the wild at IFA 2015, and we expect more device manufacturers to start implementing 4K panels into their models soon.

Moving along, we are told the LeTV Le Max 2 will also take advantage of the services of a new Sony IMX300 23MP main camera with 0.1 second autofocus speed, 4K video recording at 24fps, and f/2.0 aperture.

The report also says that the phone should launch by the end of the year, which is corroborated by earlier rumors that claimed the market’s first Snapdragon 820-powered handset, the Xiaomi Mi5, was bound to make a debut in December. Even if these Snapdragon 820-touting phones make a debut until the end of 2015, they will probably start shipping out to customers at a later date.

Anyway, we advise you to take the information we’ve just shared with you with a big grain of salt until we manage to get some real confirmation this will indeed be the case.
