Lenovo’s selfie phone is up for grabs in America

The Lenovo Vibe Shot is an atypical phone that saw the light of day at MWC 2015. The device went on sale in China last month, but it wasn’t made available for customers outside Asia at that point.

This is not the case anymore, though, as the Lenovo Vibe Shot is now up for grabs in the US. You can’t pick it up from Lenovo itself and you will have to be less picky about coloring options, but if you’re fine with that, you should know that Amazon is selling the black colored variant unlocked for $380 / €339 a pop.

Still, you should keep in mind that the version sold by the online retailer does not support US LTE bands. So if you can live without having 4G at your disposal, you can head on to Amazon and pledge your money right way.

What is the Lenovo Vibe Shot all about?

The Vibe Shot is a high-end smartphone aimed at those who absolutely need to take state-of-the-art selfies. For this purpose, the device is equipped with an 8MP camera in the front that can capture full HD (1080p) video, but will also allow you to shoot quality selfies.

As for the main camera, we have a 16MP photo snapper featuring OIS (optical image stabilization), triple-LED (dual-tone) flash, autofocus, and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Moving on to internal specifications, the Vibe Shot is powered by a decent 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor complemented by an Adreno 405 graphics unit, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.

Unlike other models from the high-end category (the Samsung Galaxy S6 comes immediately to mind), Lenovo Vibe Shot does offer microSD card functionality, so those in need of more storage can go ahead and expand it up to 128GB.

The 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display offers support for full HD (1080p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Last but not least, the Vibe Shot is powered by a non-removable 2,900 mAh battery and is equipped with dual-SIM support, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with AGPS and microUSB 2.0.

The phone ships out with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and an update to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop might come at some point in the future, although Lenovo has been known to be quite slow when it comes to providing updates.
