The phone should have been unveiled a while back

We first heard of the Lenovo Vibe S1 back in February when a leak claimed the phone would get unveiled at MWC 2015 in Barcelona. However, the smartphone didn’t end up seeing the light of day at the event after all, and since then we haven’t heard anything else related to it.

Well, the phone makes a comeback into the headlines this week, popping up in the Chinese certification database TENAA, which also provides us with the specs of the device.

The Vibe S1 should make an appearance featuring a 5-inch 1080p display (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) and will draw power from a 1.7GHz octa-core processor (probably the Snapdragon 615) in combination with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB of internal storage via microSD card).

The Lenovo Vibe S1 can be thought of as a selfie phone

The phone is poised to go live with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash on board, plus an 8MP front-facing snapper for taking exquisite selfies.

According to the listing, the Vibe S1 will also take advantage of 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a 2,420 mAh battery. Its dimensions are said to be 143 x 70.8 x 7.85 mm / 5.59 x 2.78 x 0.30 inches and weight is set at 130 g / 0.28 lbs. It should make it out on the market in Black, White, Violet, Blue and Pink coloring options and run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

And now that the phone has received certification, we can expect Lenovo to step forth and announce it officially soon enough.

The Lenovo Vibe S1 leaked out a few months back alongside a consistent number of new phones including the Vibe X3, Vibe P1, Vibe P1 Pro and Vibe Max. None of these models has been made official until now, so Lenovo might have its hands full during the next few months.

While preparing smartphones of its own, Lenovo has also pointed out that Motorola fans will also be treated with novelties in the upcoming months. The third-generation Moto X and third-generation Moto G have already leaked out a number of times on the web, so they will probably become a reality by the end of this year.
