Other companies will launch their first Tango devices

It's been a good year for Lenovo's smartphone business, as the Chinese company has finally released the world's first commercial Tango phone, the Phab 2 Pro.

After a few delays that pushed the release of the smartphone into November, Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is finally available for purchase in the United States and Europe.

According to AndroidAuthority, Lenovo's Phab 2 Pro smartphone, part of Project Tango, was purchased by roughly 6,000 developers through its online store and at events where the device was showcased.

Hopefully, the high amount of developers who bought the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will lead to a more solid ecosystem with plenty of apps and services to choose from.

The good news is Lenovo won't remain the only company to have released a commercial Tango smartphone, as Jeff Merideth, General Manager of Android and Chrome, recently said that other companies plan to launch new Tango smartphones in 2017.

Asus is one of the companies that has already confirmed the launch of a Tango phone in 2017, but others will most likely follow soon.

Merideth points out that Lenovo will have the upper hand as pioneer of Project Tango, so the company's second smartphone to be released in 2017 will probably offer a much better experience than any other Tango handset available on the market.

Although Lenovo has yet to confirm the information, we see no reason for the Chinese company not to continue to launch Tango smartphones in the coming years, especially that other handset makers are thinking to do the same thing.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro is the first Tango smartphone available for purchase. The phone boasts a huge 6.4-inch display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. It's powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

More importantly, the Phab 2 Pro is equipped with four cameras that work in conjunction with Tango and specially-developed software to enable cutting-edge smartphone AR experiences.

Rear cameras consist of a 16-megapixel RGB camera, depth camera, and fisheye camera for ultra-wide angle panoramics.

In the front, an 8-megapixel camera is perfect for selfies and groupies. Also, the phone is powered by a 4,050 mAh battery and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
