Lenovo's backed project ZUK recently announced its first smartphone under this brand, the Z1. The smartphone has been launched exclusively in China where it sells for $285 outright.

However, it looks like the Chinese company has decided to bring the ZUK Z1 to international markets, but with one slight change when it comes to specifications.

Instead of the customized Android Lollipop operating system that powers the Chinese version of the Z1, ZUK will be releasing the international model with Cyanogen OS 12.1 onboard, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop platform.

Aside from that, there will be no differences between the two smartphone. According to ZUK, more details on the availability of the Z1 in international markets will be unveiled on August 21.

Dual-SIM and 4G LTE support make it quite a good deal in some markets

For those out of the loop, ZUK Z1 is a decent Android smartphone that packs a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

On the inside, the Z1 is equipped with an old quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which is complemented by 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Also, ZUK's smartphone packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel camera in the front for state-of-the-art selfies.

The phone's main camera packs a Sony IMX214 sensor and features f/2.2 aperture, as well as OIS (optical image stabilization). The front camera has an OmniVision sensor for better selfies and videos.

Another strong point of ZUK Z1 is the USB Type-C port inside, along with the large 4,100 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. It's also worth mentioning the Z1 comes with fingerprint scanner and LTE support.

Potential customers should know that ZUK Z1 could be priced much higher in certain international markets, but we will likely find out more about this in less than 24 hours.
