Lenovo is offering a huge phone with mid-range specs

Lenovo introduced its tablet/smartphone hybrid Phab Plus in late August and showcased it again at IFA 2015. Not long afterwards, the phablet was made available for purchase in select markets. And now Lenovo is bringing it to the Indian market.

The Chinese company is offering the huge device via Amazon India, where interested customers can pick it up for around $283 / €251, a pretty affordable price when you consider that the phone features a pretty huge 6.8-inch display.

The Lenovo Phab Plus sports a large display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (FHD standard) and bundles a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood with Adreno 405 GPU, which is characteristic of upper mid-rangers.

The device maker also throws in 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, which is expandable via microSD card slot up to 64GB. Other specifications include a 13MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 5P lenses, plus a 5MP front-facing camera, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and a 3,500 mAh battery to keep things running on board.

Software-wise, the phablet is already lagging

The phone ships out with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with the company’s own Vibe UI plastered on top. Given Lenovo’s track record when it comes to software updates, we shouldn’t be too hopeful that the company will push the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update anytime soon, even if the software will start rolling out to Nexus devices very soon.

Actually, we don’t know if Lenovo will bother to update the Phab Plus even to Android 5.1 Lollipop. So if you don’t mind purchasing a device that’s already a little far behind software-wise, you can go ahead and visit Amazon and place an order for it. It’s available in Gunmetal Platinum color.

Back at IFA 2015, when Lenovo unveiled the Phab Plus, it also launched the Phab, a version of the phablet with an even larger display, of the 7-inch variety. However, overall, Lenovo offered lower specs on this model, like a 720p display and just 1GB of RAM. But in India, the Chinese device maker is selling only the Phab Plus model. Are you interested?
