14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft’s Surface is quite a successful model, and it’s no secret that its premium price makes it impossible for many wannabe customers to buy one, despite the discounts and offers that the software giant launches every once in a while.
But it’s this success that’s making many companies out there launch similar products, some of which look just like they’re clones of the Microsoft Surface. And the best place to search for this stuff is in China.
Lenovo, for instance, which is a company that builds products that offer excellent value for the money, has decided it’s time to launch its own Microsoft Surface clone, and it used the IFA 2016 show in Berlin to show it to the world.
Also includes a built-in kickstand
The Miix 510, which is the smaller brother of the Miix 700, features a look that’s strikingly similar to the one of the Surface, coming with a detachable keyboard that lets you use it as a tablet. The 12.2-inch screen also supports a pen, although not included in the package, and with Windows 10 and Windows Ink, you can barely feel a difference between Lenovo’s device and the Surface.
There’s also an integrated kickstand supporting a 150-degree angle adjustment, and Microsoft says that this part is made from no less than “280 individual pieces of stainless steel,” so not only does it look good, but it’s also super durable.
The Miix 510 was designed to be ultra portable, so it weighs just 2 pounds (0.9 kg) without the keyboard, even though it comes with a hefty battery that can provide an autonomy of up to 7.5 hours. In addition, the device features 1TB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even LTE if you want to be connected to the Internet while on the go.
Lenovo will start sales of the new Miix model in October, and pricing will begin at $599 (€537) with the keyboard included in the package.
