Lenovo continues to launch mid-range Android smartphones even though most major handset makers are readying new flagship smartphones.

After releasing the K4 Note in India earlier this month, Lenovo announced the immediate availability of K5 Note, another mid-range Android phablet.

Lenovo's announcement doesn't really come as a surprise since the K5 Note has been recently spotted at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission.

What's surprising is the fact that Lenovo launched the sequel to the K4 Note so quickly. The new phablet will have an intense competition in China where Xiaomi recently introduced the Redmi Note 3 and LeTV released the LeEco Le 1S.

The K5 Note will be available for purchase in China for just 1,099 yuan, which is about $165 outright. According to Lenovo, customers can now register on its online store for the first flash sale of the K5 Note, which will kick off on February 1.

Moving on to specs, Lenovo K5 Note comes with a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

Hardware-wise, the phablet is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

At the back, the K5 Note features a 13-megapixel photo snapper with phase detection autofocus, dual-LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and video recording, whereas in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Lenovo K5 Note will be powered by a massive 3,500 mAh battery and ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

When it comes to connectivity, Lenovo confirmed the K5 Note offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, but also other options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.
