As more and more handset makers update their smartphones, Android 7.0 Nougat seizes a larger market share. Running on just 0.4% of Android devices doesn't bode well for Google's plans to reduce fragmentation, but that's exactly what it happened with the previous versions of the OS.

Lenovo, one of the largest Chinese handset makers, is one of the companies that will contribute to the Android 7.0 Nougat market share increase, even though just a little bit.

Two of the smartphones launched under the ZUK brand, one of which is not really present worldwide, will receive Android 7.0 Nougat updates next year.

If you're familiar with the ZUK brand, then you must have heard about the Z1 and Z2 Pro, two previous flagships that are too old to have been released with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box.

The good news is both devices will be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of Q1 2017. According to Lenovo, the first to receive the update will be the Z2 Pro, as Android 7.0 Nougat will arrive on this particular device on January 28, a date that coincides with the Spring Festival in China.

Next in line, the ZUK Z1 has been confirmed to receive the first Android 7.0 Nougat beta build before January 28, 2017. However, it's unclear when exactly the final version will hit the smartphone. Both updates will arrive with the new ZUI 2.5 on top of Android OS.

It looks like the advantages of having a rather small portfolio of smartphones allows ZUK to provide major Android updates to most of its devices.

The Chinese company is also expected to unveil its first smartphone to ship with the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system on board, the ZUK Edge.

Although rumors claimed the Edge could be announced on December 7, it looks like the phone hasn't been officially introduced yet.
