Recently, it has been revealed that the Lenovo-backed ZUK Z1 smartphone will be officially unveiled on August 8. ZUK has been testing the smartphone for quite some time now and has been sharing with us information related to said device in the process.

ZUK is Lenovo’s subsidiary which is said to be focusing more on software experiences, but currently it is also working on a smartphone. However, we’re still a bit confused as to what operating system we’re going to see the device arrive with, but we know it’s going to be either Android 5.1 Lollipop or Cyanogen OS.

This week, the company’s own CEO Chang Cheng has posted an image of the upcoming smartphone on his Weibo page. The picture shows us only a part of the phone, namely the back, and reveals that it sports a USB Type-C port.

As you can see in the image attached to this article, the USB Type-C is circled, which is an interesting detail. The phone is shown with an impeccable, white paint job, but maybe the company will offer some other coloring options as well.

Anyway, for those who aren’t up to date with the ZUK Z1, we’re taking a moment here to remind you that the phone is tipped to arrive with a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (it seems ZUK didn’t want to venture into QHD land with its first phone).

The Z1 will be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

ZUK’s high-end device will be one of the few Android (?) smartphones to pack a USB Type-C port. In addition, the handset has been confirmed to be powered by a large 4,000 mAh battery, which should provide quite a lot of continuous usage time.

A fingerprint scanner will be implemented as well, along with a Touch ID function which is said to be much speedier than the iPhone’s.

Sadly, we don’t know anything about Z1’s pricing options, though we do know the smartphone is likely to come in two versions: 32GB and 64GB. Which probably means that it won’t come with a microSD card slot.

We’ll know more about the device in a few weeks.
