Lennart Poettering, the creator of the controversial init system and service manager for Linux kernel-based operating systems, has had the great pleasure of announcing the first systemd conference event.

Dubbed systemd.conf, the event will take place later this year, between November 5 and 7, in Berlin, Germany, where systemd developers and hackers, DevOps professionals, and Linux distribution packagers will be able to attend various workshops, as well as to collaborate with their fellow developers and plan the future of the project.

"The first systemd conference, systemd.conf, will take place on November 5th-7th, 2015 at betahaus in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Germany. The systemd project is one of the core components of most of today’s Linux distributions," says Lennart Poettering. "At systemd.conf 2015 we will discuss the state and future of the Linux core platform and plumbing."

As you might know, in the last couple of years, the systemd project has become the main attraction in the ever-growing open-source ecosystem, as numerous GNU/Linux distributions have announced the switch from old-school SysV or Upstart init systems to systemd.
