Funcom has just announced that after a brief run as a free-to-play game on PC, LEGO Minifigures Online will be launched on desktop and mobile platforms as buy-to-play game.

Basically, the game will be available on PC, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS. According to developers, LEGO Minifigures should be available for download via Google Play Store and App Store beginning June 26.

The game will cost no less than $4.99 on both Android and iOS platforms, but it will only include one world. However, iOS players will be given the option to buy additional world starting June 29.

Sadly, Android players won't get the same benefit, though Funcom announced that Android users would be able to purchase more worlds “later this summer.”

Well, this isn't that bad considering that some platforms won't even have the game available (Windows Phone, BlackBerry).

It's worth mentioning LEGO Minifigures Online features cross-platform gameplay in the some online worlds across all devices.

The game has been overhauled since the last PC launch

According to Funcom, the game has been completely overhauled, after months of work, and developers added new features and content, including unique events, cinematics, voice acting, as well as an interesting and fun story.

Numerous other gameplay additions and major improvements throughout the game have been implemented too.

In LEGO Minifigures Online, players can collect more than one hundred Minifigures, each with their own set of abilities and personality. Players will have to build teams to take on challenging adventures in the classic LEGO worlds.

This really is the definitive version of LEGO Minifigures Online and we are very much looking forward to opening the servers for players to experience it.

Not only will it feel like a fresh, new experience for those who have played the earlier free-to-play PC version, there is also so much potential unlocked now that gamers can play with each other across platforms on a broad range of devices.

Maybe you are playing on an iPhone while your friend is on an Android tablet and your grandma is on a high-powered PC; you’ll still play together in the same world, along with thousands of other LEGO fans from all over the globe,” said Funcom CEO Rui Casais.
