Microsoft might be charging only one dollar for the upgrade

Leaked screenshots of Windows 10 build 10154 reached the web only a few hours ago, and although this version is not yet up for grabs, we can already have a look at some of the changes Microsoft is planning thanks to these photos.

One of the screenshots reveals an upgrade from Windows 10 Home to the Pro edition, which can be performed straight from the store, but what's more interesting is the price of this upgrade.

As you can see for yourselves, Microsoft appears to be charging only $1 for the upgrade from Home to Pro, but it's not yet clear whether this is the real price that the company's going to use when the operating system goes live on July 29.

Real or not?

This price could be just a placeholder for the time being, given that Windows 10 is not yet available, or it might be part of a special promo that the company could be offering after the launch of the operating system.

“With Windows 10 Pro you get enhanced features to help you easily connect to company networks, access one PC from another, encrypt your data, and more. For advanced technical and security features, go Pro,” the description published in the store reads.

Users are also provided with a feature comparison between Home and Pro and they can also introduce an existing Windows 10 Pro product key to quickly upgrade without paying.

Interestingly, the price difference between Home and Pro is much bigger according to Microsoft's original announcement, as the first will be sold for $119.99, while the latter will cost $199.99, so if this offer is real, everyone should get it as fast as possible.

Keep in mind, however, that there's still no indication that this offer is real, and as we said, the $1 price could be just a placeholder before the OS goes live, or the screenshot could very well be fake, so don't get your hopes too high until we get an official confirmation from Microsoft.
