14 DAY TRIAL // iPhone 7 leaks are happening much more often now that we’re getting closer to the public unveiling of the device in September, and the latest video that has reached the web shows the new model next to the iPhone 6s.
We’ve known for a while that the next iPhone will come with a design similar to the one on the 6s while featuring some worthy hardware upgrades, and this new video does nothing but confirm all of these.
First and foremost, the first thing you should notice when watching the video is that the two iPhones look very, very similar. That’s because the iPhone 7 will be 95 percent similar to the iPhone 6s and will have the same dimensions - rumor has it that the new model will be 1mm thinner, but this is hardly visible with the naked eye.
The most striking difference is the new position of the antenna lines, which are now placed at the top and the bottom of the phone. Furthermore, the iPhone 7 comes with a bigger camera that’s also moved closer to the corner - also note that this is the 4.7-inch iPhone 7, as the Plus model will sport a dual-camera configuration.
Say goodbye to the headphone jack
The headphone jack is no longer there, and although some could miss it, there’s word that Apple plans to offer a new version of the EarPods with a Lightning connector. Adapters will also be sold separately.
The headphone jack will be replaced with a secondary speaker grille, but you should note that the iPhone 7 won’t be stereo, so it’ll remain mono but have two different speaker grilles.
Fortunately, the most recent leaks seem to be fake, and the iPhone 7 will continue to have a silent/ring toggle button, as it would make no sense for Apple to remove what has become a signature feature of the iPhone lineup.
Other than that, expect the iPhone to come with hardware upgrades too, including the A10 lineup of chips, up to 3GB of RAM (at least on the Plus model), a maximum of 256 GB of storage (once again on the Plus), as well as 32GB for the entry-level configuration.
We’ll find more about it in the coming weeks, as more leaks are expected to reach the web while the public unveiling is projected to happen in September.
