This is what the Action Center might look like in RS2

Microsoft is gearing up to introduce the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (also known as Redstone 1) on August 2, but at the same time, the company is also getting ready to start working on the second wave of this update, often referred to as Redstone 2 (or the second Redstone wave).

And a couple of screenshots that have gotten leaked today via MSPU provide us with an early look at what could be the redesigned Action Center in Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 2.

It’s believed that the second wave of the Redstone update will bring features that weren’t ready for the first rollout taking place this summer, so it makes sense for the Action Center to get a significant overhaul in the next round of updates.

Actions and toggles

According to these two screenshots, Microsoft will separate the Action Center in two different parts, namely actions and toggles, while also adding a brightness slider similar to the one available on rival platforms. Actions will allow you to perform certain tasks, such as launching the camera, connecting to an external screen, or taking a note, while toggles will let you turn on and off features, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or airplane mode.

The redesigned Action Center also looks cleaner and better organized, so this is definitely a welcome update that would bring Windows 10 Mobile closer to Android and iOS - although we do know that Windows 10 Mobile outclasses the other two in terms of usability in some regards.

The second wave of the Redstone update is expected in the spring of 2017, but this isn’t yet confirmed, and everything should really be taken with a healthy pinch of salt for the moment.

And yet, as mentioned, these changes do make sense, and although Microsoft is keeping everything secret, the first implementations should be ready for testing in just a few weeks, when the company starts rolling out preview builds of the Redstone 2 update.
