Samsung is expected to release the refurbished variant of the Galaxy Note 7 very soon, although only a limited number of countries will receive it. Images of the Galaxy Note 7R leaked a while ago, and two new pictures seem to confirm the small identifier on the back.

According to the images which surfaced over at Droidholic, the Galaxy Note 7R will feature the letter “R” on the back, allowing people to easily distinguish between the refurbished unit and the original Galaxy Note 7.

Aside from this, the smartphone seems to have the same design as the original Galaxy Note 7, featuring a physical home button in an elliptical shape on the front panel and bezels at the top and bottom. It will also be accompanied by the S Pen and feature an iris scanner in the front.

Galaxy Note 7R or Galaxy Note FE?

The refurbished Note 7 has been rumored to carry the moniker Galaxy Note 7R for quite a few weeks now, ever since Samsung announced that such a device would be released at some point this year. However, a recent report revealed that the smartphone could be named the Galaxy Note FE, with FE standing for Fan Edition.

This hasn’t been confirmed by Samsung yet and there haven’t been other reports suggesting this moniker for the refurbished unit, but we can’t exclude it just yet. Samsung has yet to reveal when the refurbished smartphone will arrive in stores, but rumors say that it could be released by the end of June.

The phone is said to come with the same specs as the original Galaxy Note 7, except for the battery capacity which was reduced to 3,200mAh, for safety reasons. The refurbished unit could arrive in countries like South Korea and Vietnam, while the US and Canada aren’t on the list. The device could carry a price tag as low as half of the original model.
