Apple warns employees to stop leaking information

A leaked Apple memo obtained by Bloomberg on Friday reveals the fact that the Cupertino, California-based company warns its employees to stop leaking information to the press or else.

The leaked memo, attached below for your reading pleasure, details Apple’s efforts to stop the leak of intellectual property by its employees and contractors. The company notes the fact that only last year it got 12 people arrested for leaking internal information from a total of 29 leakers caught with the help of Global Security.

The biggest leak suffered by Apple in 2017 was over the GM (Gold Master) build of its iOS 11 mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, which was leaked by an employee to various bloggers and journalists. This contained important details about the unreleased iPhone X smartphone and Apple Watch Series 3.

In the leaked memo obtained today by news site Bloomberg, Apple warns employees that they can be fired for leaking information, and even get arrested. Apple declined to comment when it was asked by Bloomberg who leaked the internal memo about not leaking information, which we find quite ironic.

Leaks usually have a dramatic impact on the sales of Apple's products, as well as any other company for that matter. Also, they give competitors a head start on developing similar features to those Apple spent years to develop. Apple is known as one of the most secretive tech company to date as it never reveals its plans.

Unfortunately, it looks like Apple needs to implement stricter internal policies for its employees if even a memo aimed at stopping information leakage got leaked. Again, you can find the full leaked memo attached below if you're curious to read it, courtesy of Bloomberg News.
