Apple planning more improvements beside wireless charging

As compared to the brand-new iPhone 8, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus are likely to receive more subtle improvements, including wireless charging possible thanks to the use of glass for the body.

But the closer we get to the launch date of the new iPhones, the more information emerges on the upgrades to take place under the hood of the 7s and 7s Plus, and a leak today suggests the speakers could be one particular area of focus for tech giant Apple.

Photos posted on China’s Weibo allegedly show the iPhone 7s and some of the device’s internals, including the speaker at the top. While at first glance there doesn’t seem to be too much to see in this photo, the speaker area under the front panel appears to be eating much more space at the top of the screen, which could be an indication Apple is working on a substantial speaker upgrade.

Front-facing fingerprint sensor

While this is just a guess for the time being, it makes sense for Apple to give a boost to the speakers on the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus, especially because these devices won’t feature the same number of technologies at the top of body like the iPhone 8, which is likely to be fitted with 3D facial recognition cameras, as well as other sensors.

More recently, leaks have suggested that the iPhone 7s could even come with a fingerprint sensor on the back, but today’s photos indicate this is not the case, and it certainly makes sense. The bezels will continue to be there on the iPhone 7s and Apple has no reason to move Touch ID to the back of the phone.

As you can see, everything is just in the rumor stage for the time being, so a certain amount of skepticism is recommended until the official September launch. On the other hand, some of these rumors align pretty nicely, so expect the iPhone 7s to also feature several other hardware upgrades under the hood.
