HMD Global is reportedly getting ready to debut the company’s flagship device called Nokia 8 and which could come as an Android alternative to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, featuring a dual-camera system and powerful hardware like Snapdragon 835 chip.

A report from German site WinFuture reveals more details about the Nokia 8, pointing out that the launch of the device could take place as soon as this month. This means the new phone could see daylight sometime in the next two weeks, though HMD could also push the launch to early August.

Nokia 8 is codenamed TA-1004 and it is likely to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the same chip that’s at the heart of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the OnePlus 5. This is currently the top mobile processor, so HMD is clearly looking to compete against the flagships with its new model.

The CPU will be paired with 4GB RAM, but earlier reports indicated that a 6GB RAM version could also be planned. The device will come by default with 64GB storage, and microSD cards are also very likely to be supported for increased capacity.

The Nokia 8 is said to feature a Quad HD 5.3-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels, but once again, there were reports suggesting that a larger screen could be used as well.

There’s a chance that Nokia could also embrace the trend with narrow bezels and bigger screen-to-body ratio, though a picture that leaked earlier this year and allegedly showing the new model (attached at the end of the article) with pretty big bezels at the top and bottom.

The Nokia 8 could also come with a dual-camera system powered by Zeiss, with HMD hoping it could position its device as a rival to the iPhone 7 Plus.

Rumor has it that the Nokia 8 could launch for approximately $600/€600, with a total of 4 color versions planned, namely blue, steel, gold blue, and gold copper. Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection of the screen is also expected, but plastic very likely to be used on the back.
