On the last day of July 2015, Canonical's Zoltán Balogh posted an important email on the Ubuntu Touch mailing list, informing us all about the work done lately on the Ubuntu SDK (Software Development Kit) software.

According to Mr. Balogh, the latest Ubuntu SDK update adds the BottomEdgeHint, AdaptivePageLayout, and Sections components, adds UbuntuShape drop shadow support, adds support for the displaying of trailing and leading actions to the ListItem context menu, and adds new visualizations to the header.

Furthermore, it fixes some bugs in the ListItem component that blocked the transition from version 1.2 to 1.3 of the ListItem style, fixes the "time format not translatable" issues for SMS notification, which will land in the Ubuntu Touch OTA-6 update, and improves the behavior of the select, insert, and contextual menu for text input.

"After some holidays influenced silence here I go with the SDK news. On the UITK front we have been focusing on the convergence features and critical bug fixes targeting OTA5/OTA6," says Zoltán Balogh. "With the tools and IDE the focus was on improving usability."

On the other hand, the Ubuntu SDK IDE and tools received some attention too, the development team managed to integrate the Autopilot plugin in the Vivid Vervet branch, as well as to fix some of those annoying bugs, such as unreadable text in some dialogs, support for matching the name of an app to the click package's name, and support for matching the targeted framework on the kit creation dialog.

Here's what's coming to Ubuntu SDK

Zoltán Balogh also had the pleasure of informing us all that the Ubuntu SDK development team will concentrate their efforts on features like Scope components, Scope filter components, Card components, which are related to Scope filter components, BottomEdge component, and ListItem layout templates.

Additionally, they will also work on ListItem layout templates, ListItem expansion support, as well as context and application menus, and they will try to improve the performance of the Label component. We will keep you informed as new information about the Ubuntu SDK (Software Development Kit) becomes available.
