OxygenOS Open Beta 4 update is now ready for public testing

OnePlus released this past weekend a new beta of its upcoming Android-based OxygenOS mobile operating system for the OnePlus 5T smartphone, rebasing it on Google's latest Android 8.1 Oreo.

The latest OxygenOS Open Beta 4 build for OnePlus 5T not only is based on Google's Android 8.1 Oreo mobile operating system, but it also brings a bunch of enhancements, starting with a new auto pick up gesture for the Phone app, along with the ability to answer an incoming call by just by raising the smartphone.

Also, the OxygenOS Open Beta 4 ships with Google's Android Security Patch for February 2018, additional clock styles for the ambient display, and better support for full-screen gestures. Various other minor bug fixes and improvements are present as well in this new OxygenOS Open Beta update.

Gaming mode gets new optimizations, OnePlus Switch new features

OxygenOS' Gaming mode received new optimizations in OxygenOS Open Beta 4 as well, providing OnePlus 5T owners with an immersive gaming experience. These include the ability to pause the adaptive brightness during gameplay and new power-saving capabilities of the device.

Apart from that, the update adds support for migrating application data to the OnePlus Switch feature, allowing users to switch between multiple devices they own seamlessly. The OxygenOS Open Beta 4 release can be installed right now via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates if you're already using a previous open beta version.

If you aren't using the OxygenOS Open Beta builds on your OnePlus 5T device, but you want to run Android 8.1 Oreo, OnePlus provides you with straightforward flashing instructions. However, please note that this is beta software and may not be as stable as you would want them to be, so make sure you have a recent backup at hand in case you need to restore.
