14 DAY TRIAL // Today, November 8, 2016, GNU/Linux developer Arne Exton announced the release of a new version of his commercial AndEX Android-x86-based operating system for personal computers.
Based on the latest Android-x86 official release built on top of Google's Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system and shipping with the GAPPS (Google Apps) package pre-installed, AndEX Build 161107 is powered by kernel 4.4.27-exton-android-x86_64, which corresponds to the upstream Linux 4.4.27 LTS kernel.
It also comes with up-to-date applications, including Google Play Store 7.1.16.1, Google Earth 8.0.4.2346, File Manager 1.01, Clash of Clans 8.551.24, Google Now Launcher 1.4, and Spotify 6.30.882. Many other Google apps are included in the GAPPS packages, such as Gmail, YouTube, and Google Play Services.
"My compiled Android-x86_64 system (Nougat 7.0) can run live (from CD) on certain computers," said Arne Exton in today's announcement. "It is best installed to a USB stick or to hard drive and running from there. The system can, however, be installed on almost all newer laptops (and some Desktop computers)."
Aptoide App Manager is available as an alternative to Google Play store
If users don't like Google Play Store for managing their apps, they can use the Aptoide App Manager utility, which is also pre-installed in AndEX Build 161107, allowing them to install various third-party .apk packages that aren't available in Google Play Store. Best of all, the new version is free for existing users, but will cost newcomers $9 (€8).
AndEX Build 161107 supports and can be installed in a wide range of laptops from Acer (Aspire), Dell, Toshiba, HP, Thinkpad, ASUS, Fujitsu, Panasonic, Lenovo, and Samsung. The developer reports that he successfully managed to install AndEX on an HP Pavilion 500-317no desktop computer. Check out the screenshot gallery below for more details!
