Video game developer Larian Studios has announced that it is planning to launch a new Kickstarter effort in order to fund the creation of a new video game, Divinity: Original Sin II, which will offer a full sequel experience for one of the best role-playing games of the last few years.

Ahead of the crowdfunding campaign, gamers can use the official site of the game to choose what kind of rewards they want to get if they back the project.

Some gamers expressed reservations about the Kickstarter for Divinity: Original Sin II, given the success of the original both in critical and sales terms.

Now, Swen Vincke, the leader of Larian Studios, has posted an extensive blog post in which he explains the reasons for the move and the way the final product will be improved.

He says that the original game in the series was shaped in many ways by those who backed it on Kickstarter and by those who played in Early Access on Steam.

Vincke adds, "Without having that same community on board, I think it’s going to be very hard for us to achieve the goals we have with Divinity: Original Sin 2, and so we’ll do our very best to convince them to back us once again. The result at the end will be so much better if they do."

Divinity: Original Sin II can deliver very cool stuff

The leader of the development team explains that the company will not need to work on the core elements of the title and will spend its time and resources on refining gameplay and on creating exciting moments for gamers to experience.

Apparently, Larian Studios already has the money to create a cool video game, but it will be using the extra funds coming from crowdfunding and the feedback delivered by invested fans to improve their quality.

Divinity: Original Sin II will probably be initially offered on the PC, but Larian Studios has not yet talked about a launch window, with more details coming when the Kickstarter goes live on August 26.

During PAX Prime, Larian Studios is planning to show off a demo of the title to attendees, and backers will probably also have a chance to see the title in action.
