On March 29, Samsung intends to announce two new smartphones in the Galaxy S series, and a leaked logo reveals that the larger variant will be named Galaxy S8+. The logo was leaked by reputable tipster Evan Blass.

The standard Galaxy S8 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display, while the Galaxy S8+ will have a 6.2-inch screen. Samsung won’t release a flat variant of the Galaxy S8, as it seems that the company has decided to bet exclusively on dual-edge curved displays.

The logo also suggests that Samsung will drop the “Edge” moniker, used in the previous two predecessors of the Galaxy S8. The moniker for the larger variant of its flagship contains the “+” symbol, also used with the Galaxy S6 edge+, a smartphone that was released on the same day as the Galaxy Note 5.

SD835 SoC and Bixby

The Galaxy S8+ is also expected to feature 128GB of internal storage, more compared to the Galaxy S8’s 64GB rumored memory. Both phones will run the Snapdragon 835 SoC, as Samsung has exclusivity on the latest Qualcomm chipset, at least for the initial batch.

Samsung will also pack the two new phones with an iris scanner, an S Pen as a separate accessory, and its new AI assistant Bixby, said to be based on the S Voice. Bixby will come with support for 8 languages and a feature for recognizing objects by simply scanning them with the rear camera. Bixby is also said to have its own hardware button and the AI assistant will take on Google Assistant.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ will also have a rear fingerprint sensor and lack the iconic physical home button that’s been featured on previous phones in the series. The latest rumors also say that the Galaxy S8 will have a 3,000mAh battery, while the S8+ might feature a 3,500mAh battery, the same capacity as on the Note 7.
