Square Enix Montreal has just announced that Lara Croft GO, their next mobile game, will be available for download beginning August 27.

The game was teased about a month ago, but the release date of Lara Croft GO has only been confirmed recently. Along with the launch date, Square Enix has also announced another project that will see one or more fans awarded exclusive prizes.

We are talking about the Lara Croft GO fan art contest, which is made in partnership with Child's Play. Fans can submit their game-inspired artwork in order to win exclusive prizes until August 21.

According to the developers, the best 10 submissions will be showcased at Square Enix's art exhibit during the game's launch event at the Hard Rock Cafe in Seattle, on August 28, during PAX Prime.

The “GO” series of games is one of the most successful in the mobile ecosystem

Lara Croft GO is a turn-based puzzle game where players explore ruins of an ancient civilization, discover hidden secrets, as well as face dangerous challenges, in order to uncover the myth of the Queen of Venom.

The new game is “a never-before-seen” take on the beloved franchise featuring challenging gameplay, amazing graphics, and immersive soundtrack.

Lara Croft GO will not be offered for free, but it will be available worldwide from both the App Store and Google Play Store for iOS and Android gamers.

“GO is a celebration of our iconic franchises. With Hitman GO, we’ve distilled a brand we love to its core… the Essence of Assassination.

“Now, we are bringing this concept to a whole new level. Working in close partnership with Crystal Dynamics, we are excited to tap into the nostalgic love we have for the ultimate female adventurer, Lara Croft, and bring you… the Essence of Adventure!” said Patrick Naud, head of Studio at Square Enix Montréal.
