Land Rover and Bullitt Group are announcing today the upcoming availability of the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone, a rugged Android smartphone explicitly designed for adventurers and explorers.

Designed for those who live for adventure every single day, the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone is built to survive almost anything, says Bullitt Group, a mobile phone and consumer electronics company. The device is called Land Rover Explore because it comes with Land Rover branding on the detachable case.

"Building on our leadership in the rugged mobile market, we see the growing customer dissatisfaction with the fragility of their mobile phone and the poor battery life in particular, preventing them from using their mobile for key parts of their day to day life," said Peter Stephens, CEO of Bullitt Group.

Technical specifications of Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone

Powered by a Deca-Core MTK Helio X27 64-bit chipset running at 2.6GHz and 4GB RAM, the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone comes with 64GB internal storage that's expandable to 256GB through the integrated microSD slot, dual-SIM functionality, a 16 MP rear camera, and an 8MP front camera with 4x digital zoom.

The key feature of the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone is its quite huge 4000mAh battery and the ability to add add-on Battery Packs for extended life when you're out there in the wilds, and you don't have access to power. Of course, the devices features IP68 certified splash, water, and dust resistance.

It's also drop-proof to 1.8 meters thanks to the factory fitted screen protector that comes with it. In addition, the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone offers users premium-grade and detailed off-road topographical mapping options from ViewRanger with Augmented Reality (AR) technologies.

Regarding the operating system used, the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Phone comes with Google's Android 7 "Nougat" software that has been customized with an Outdoor Dashboard, allowing users to quickly access important info like weather and sensor data. Tools like a compass and SOS light are available as well.

An update to Android 8 Oreo is planned shortly, according to Bullitt Group, which says that the device will be shown next week at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 in Barcelona, Spain, and it will be available to order starting April for the sum of €649 USD in the U.S. or £599 pounds in the U.K.
