It also introduces a bunch of performance improvements

The second bugfix release for the Krita 3.3 stable series of the open-source and cross-platform digital painting app arrived this week with several performance improvements and many bug fixes.

Krita 3.3.2 comes three weeks after the first point release in the new stable series, Krita 3.3.1, to address to important regressions, namely the reading of brush presets with textures and Windows Ink tablet and wintab handling, which were broke in the Microsoft Windows 10 Build 1709 operating system.

Another interesting change implemented in the Krita 3.3.2 release is the ability for the digital painting app to render up to 10,000 animation frames, along with the ability to export empty frames after the end of each animation. On top of that, it's now possible to start Krita with a new, empty image from the command-line (e.g. krita --new-image RGBA,8,5000,3000).

Performance improvements, more bug fixes

Several performance improvements landed in this version, improving things like the smudge brush, caching of effect and selection masks, the use of hardware-accelerated canvas, as well as loading of icons on Windows systems. On macOS, Krita now correctly renders the frames-per-second overlay widget.

Among other noteworthy changes, we can mention that Krita 3.3.2 makes it possible for users to edit the settings of filters directly in the XML file used for saving filter definitions, there's a brand-new ASC_CDL color balance filter with Slope, Power, and Offset options, and it's now possible to copy group layers.

Other than that, it looks like users can use the mouse wheel to scroll through patterns in the UI when the patterns palette is very narrow, and the drag and drop feedback was improved in the layer panel. G’Mic has been updated as well, and several other bugs fixed, so check out the full changelog below for more details.

Krita 3.3.2 is available for download as binaries for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms right now from our website, along with the source tarball. Linux users can use the Krita Lime PPA to install Krita 3.3.2 on Ubuntu or any of its derivatives, official or not. Krita 3.3.2 is a recommended update for all users.
